Here we go round the Mulberry bush

This the herb garden at Ballywalter Park. About 12 years ago, 2 Mulberry trees were planted against a West facing brick wall. Here we grow the herbs we need for the house, there are a few pretty things in there like the Apothecary’s rose now is in full bloom. You can see it on the left.

The Mulberry is incredibly slow in establishing and I had sort of come to terms with the fact that it would probably not bear fruit in my time. Especially as we seem to have very little luck with apples and pears.

I locked the gates to the Stable Yard behind BD as he parked up the Gator and locked the sheds, I decided to come into the house via the Conservatory. BD and I had been hoeing the beds around the fruit trees in the Walled Garden for around an hour, maybe an hour and a half. I walked past the house and the parterre garden by the Library and the Drawing Room and thought why not have a look at these Mulberries?

And this is what I found. Lovely little berries, still green. With the current weather the sky is the limit for my culinary imagination!
