The long border is my husband’s Empire. It is 500ft or 150 meters long and it is a border of mixed shrubs. There is colour in it almost all year round. It is also a place where I can get a little something for a vase at any season.
Today we got our two push mowers going. This meant that having finished the first weeding, raking out leaves, pruning and tying in the first 400ft over the last few days, we could now mow the grass. The clever thing is that the push mower works as a vacuum cleaner. It sucks up all the bits we have spilt on the grass as we worked.
The magic about it is that it leads from the house to the Walled Garden. When it is beautifully kept it lifts my spirits as I walk along it to the gates.
